My own view, for what it is worth, is that it should suffice to draw the attention of the Colonial Governments who are likely to be concerned to the fact that their Indian policemen may cease to be British subjects on or before 30th June, 1948, adding that they will no doubt take any action that they may consider necessary on account of this contingency and bear it in mind in connection with any proposals to recruit further Indians for police purposes. In this la tter connection, the Colonial Governments concerned would presumably be informed of the attitude which the Government of India have taken up.
